MONEYBALL REVEALS BETTER WAYS TO HIRE THE RIGHT STAFF

The story of a team of professional baseballers struggling for money has become a much-loved best seller in Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game.

First printed in 2003, this book has revolutionised the ways that American basketball and baseball teams now find talent, derive value from investment and nurture sporting superstars.

As well as many athletes being inspired by this story, so have many other industries and professions.

Moneyball recently served as the inspiration for ‘The Outside View’ – a new documentary for young entrepreneurs- and has spawned plans for a data prediction company with the purpose of supporting businesses to find and appoint the right people.

Rob Symes created the recruitment company Campbell Black three years ago, and said that despite the company’s success he didn’t believe that they were very good at making predictions of successful placements.

This is primarily because it is no longer sufficient to employ a person that is merely competent. Business opportunities are created through people that are extraordinary and have the ability to develop new lines of business, as well as realising opportunities that competitors cannot.
